Fix My Speaker – Free Speaker Cleaner to Eject Water & Dust

Fix My Speaker – Free Speaker Cleaner

Play a powerful low-frequency buzz to push water and dust out of your phone speaker. Works in your browser, nothing to install.

Tap the button, then turn your volume to maximum.

Before you start:
  • Turn the volume to maximum and take the phone out of its case.
  • Hold the phone with the speaker facing down so water can drip out.
  • Stop if the sound turns harsh or rattly. Never use this with earbuds or headphones in your ears.

The tone is generated on your device with the Web Audio API. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. Once this page has loaded, the tool keeps working even if you lose your connection.

How the speaker cleaner works

A phone speaker pushes air with a thin diaphragm. When you play a strong low-frequency sound, the diaphragm moves back and forth with a long stroke, pumping air through the speaker grille. Water droplets and loose dust caught in the grille and mesh get pushed out with that air, especially when the speaker faces down. It’s the same idea behind the Water Lock feature on Apple Watch.

Everything runs in your browser using the Web Audio API. There’s no app to install, no sign-up and no microphone access.

How to eject water from your speaker

  1. Remove the case and wipe the phone dry with a soft cloth.
  2. Turn the volume to maximum. On Android, make sure you’re raising media volume.
  3. Hold the phone with the speaker facing down, over a towel.
  4. Tap Eject Water and let the cycle finish (90 seconds).
  5. Wipe away any droplets on the grille, then repeat two or three times.
  6. Do the earpiece too: turn the phone so the top edge faces down and run it again if calls sound muffled.
  7. Let the phone air dry. Don’t charge it while the port is wet, and skip the rice and the hair dryer.

The cleaning modes

  • Water Eject: a steady 15 Hz square-wave buzz (harmonics at 45, 75, 165 Hz and up) for 90 seconds. Best after splashes, rain or a quick dunk.
  • Dust Removal: short pulses that sweep from 100 to 1000 Hz to shake fine dust and lint loose. Brush the grille gently afterwards.
  • Deep Clean: low pulsed tones for stubborn water, larger speakers and Bluetooth speakers.
  • Stereo Test: play left, right or both channels to check that each speaker works.
  • Custom Hz: pick any frequency from 60 to 1000 Hz with a timer, and change it while it plays.

Frequently asked questions

Does Fix My Speaker really get water out of a phone speaker?

Yes, for water trapped in the speaker grille and mesh, which is the usual cause of muffled sound after a splash. The Water Eject sound is a steady 15 Hz square-wave buzz whose harmonics run through 45, 75, 165 Hz and higher. It makes the speaker diaphragm move with a long, forceful stroke, which pushes air and droplets out through the opening. It cannot dry the inside of the phone or repair a damaged speaker.

Is this the 165 Hz water eject sound?

Many tools use a pure 165 Hz tone. Our Water Eject mode uses a 15 Hz square wave instead, which contains 165 Hz as one of its harmonics along with many other low frequencies, so it pushes the speaker with a strong buzzing pulse. If you prefer a pure 165 Hz tone, choose Custom Hz and set the slider to 165.

How long should I run the water eject tone?

One cycle lasts 90 seconds. Run it two or three times, wiping the grille in between, then let the phone air dry. You do not need to run it for many minutes.

Is it safe for my speaker?

Playing a tone at full volume for a minute or two is similar to playing loud, bass-heavy music, which phone speakers are built for. Stop if the sound turns harsh or rattly, and never play it through earbuds or headphones that are in your ears.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The tool runs in any modern browser, including Safari on iPhone and Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android, and also on tablets and laptops. Nothing needs to be installed.

Can I use it on AirPods or earbuds?

No. Do not play cleaning tones through earbuds or headphones in your ears. Wet earbuds are best dried by wiping them, tapping them gently with the mesh facing down and leaving them to air dry.

Should I put my wet phone in rice?

No. Rice does little to pull water out of a sealed phone and can leave starch dust in the ports. Apple advises against it. Open air, ideally with a fan, works better.

Does the tool record audio or need microphone access?

No. The tone is generated on your device with the Web Audio API. Nothing is recorded or uploaded, and no microphone permission is requested.

What if my speaker still sounds bad after using the tool?

Give the phone a full day to dry and clean the grille gently. If it still crackles or sounds distorted, the problem may be dust, residue or a damaged speaker rather than water. See our guides on muffled and crackling speakers, or have it checked at a repair shop.
